[Published in the Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-patra), Part 4-A, Extraordinary, dated the 13th August, 1957.][Received the assent of the President on the 29th day of July, 1957.]An Act provide for the extension of certain Rajasthan laws to the Abu, Ajmer and Sunel area.Whereas, with a view to securing uniformity of laws in the State of Rajasthan as formed by section 10 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956 (Central Act 37 of 1956), it is expedient to provide for the extension of certain Rajasthan laws as in force in the pre-reorganisation State of Rajasthan to the Abu, Ajmer and Sunel areas of the new State and for that purpose to make suitable modifications in the said Rajasthan laws;Be it enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-1. Short title and Commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Rajasthan Laws (Extension) Act, 1957.(2) [It shall come into force on such date] as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in this behalf.2. Definitions. - In this Act and in the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,-

(i) 'Abu area' means the territory comprised in the Abu Road taluka of Banaskantha District in the State of Bombay as it existed immediately before the first day of November, 1956;

(ii) 'Ajmer area' means the territory of the State of Ajmer as it existed immediately before the first day of November, 1956;

(iii) 'pre-reorganisation' used with reference to the State of Rajasthan, means the State of Rajasthan as it existed in pursuance of the Covenant or under the Constitution immediately before the first day of November, 1956;

(iv) 'State' or 'State of Rajasthan' means the State of Rajasthan as formed by section 10 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956 (Central Act 37 of 1956);

(v) 'Sunel area' means the territory comprised in the Sunel tappa of Bhanpura tehsil of Mandsaur District in the State of Madhya Bharat as it existed immediately before the first day of November, 1956.

3. Amendment and Extension of certain Rajasthan Laws - On and from the date this Act comes into force the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule shall be amended in the manner and to the extent specified in section 4 and the Schedule shall, as so amended, extend to the whole of the State of Rajasthan including the Abu, Ajmer and Sunel areas.4. Modifications of general character in Rajasthan Laws specified in the Schedule. - Throughout the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule unless the subject or context otherwise requires and save as is otherwise provided in this Act. -

(i) for the expression 'Rajasthan Gazette' or 'Hindi Matter' wherever occurring, the words 'Official Gazette' or 'Hindi Matter' as the case may be, shall be substituted,

(ii) for the word 'Rajasthan' or 'Hindi Matter' wherever occurring otherwise than in the short title, or in the expression 'Rajasthan Gazette' or 'Hindi Matter' the words 'the State of Rajasthan' or 'Hindi Matter', as the case may be, shall be substituted, and

(iii) for the word 'Government' wherever occurring, the words 'State Government' shall be substituted.

5. References to other laws. - Any reference in any of the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule to a law which is not in force in the Abu, Ajmer or Sunel area shall, in relation to any such area, be construed as a reference to the corresponding law, if any, in force therein.6. References to authorities. - Any reference, by whatever form of words, in any law in force in the Abu, Ajmer or Sunel area to any authority competent or exercise any powers or discharge any functions in any such area shall, where a corresponding new authority has been constituted by or under any of the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule, have effect as if it were a reference to that new authority.7. Repeal and savings. - Any law corresponding to the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule in force in the Abu area or the Ajmer area or the Sunel area immediately before the coming into force of this Act shall stand repealed:Provided that anything done or any action taken under any such law shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provision of the relevant Rajasthan law specified in the Schedule and shall continue to be in force accordingly.8. Power to remove difficulties. - If any difficulty arises in giving effect in the Abu, Ajmer or Sunel area to the provisions of any of the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule, the State Government may, by order notified in the Official Gazette, make such provisions or give such directions as appear to it to be necessary for the removal of the difficulty.Gambling9. Interpretation. - The provisions of the Rajasthan General Clauses act, 1955 (Rajasthan Act 8 of 1955) in force in the pre-reorganisation State of Rajasthan shall, until that Act is extended to the whole of the State and as far as may be, apply [mutatis mutandis] to this Act and to the Rajasthan laws specified in the Schedule.

(1) The Rajasthan Premises (Requisition and Eviction) Ordinance, 1949 (Rajasthan Ordinance 11 of 1949)

Section 1. - For Sub-section (2), substitute the following:-

'(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Rajasthan.'

Section 2. - Omit clause (c).

(2) The Rajasthan Dramatic Performances and Entertainments Ordinance, 1949 (Rajasthan Ordinance 29 of 1949)

Section 1. - For Sub-section (2), substitute the following:-

'(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Rajasthan.'

Section 2. - Omit clause (ii).

Section 7. - Omit 'as adapted to Rajasthan.'

Section 9. - Omit 'as adapted to Rajasthan.'

Section 14. - Omit the whole.

Section 15. - Omit the whole.

(3) The Rajasthan Drugs (Control) Ordinance, 1949 (Rajasthan Ordinance, 31 of 1949)

Section 1. - For Sub-section (2), substitute the following:-

'(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Rajasthan.'

Section 2. - Omit clause (e) of Sub-section (1).

Section 16. - Omit 'as adapted to Rajasthan.'

Section 21. - Omit the whole.

(4) The Rajasthan Resettlement of Displaced Persons (Land Acquisition) Ordinance, 1949 (Rajasthan Ordinance 33 of 1949)

Section 1. - For Sub-section (2), substitute the following:-

'(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Rajasthan.'

Section 2. - Omit Clause (c).

Section 7. - In clause (e) of Sub-section (1) for the words 'any law relating to compulsory acquisition for the time being in force in the whole or any part of Rajasthan', substitute 'the Rajasthan Land Acquisition Act, 1953 (Rajasthan Act 24 of 1953).'

Section 15. - Omit the whole.

Section 16. - Omit the whole.

(5) The Rajasthan Public Gambling Ordinance, 1949 (Rajasthan Ordinance 48 of 1949)

Section 1. - In Sub-section (2), for the words 'the whole of Rajasthan' substitute 'the whole of the State of Rajasthan.'

(10) The Rajasthan Armed Constabulary Act, 1950 (Rajasthan Act 12 of 1950)

Section 1. - For Sub-section (2), substitute the following:-

'(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Rajasthan.'

Section 2. - (i) In Sub-section (1) omit clause (2).

(ii) For Sub-section (2), substitute the following:-

'References in this Act to the Police Act, 1861 of the Central Legislature shall be construed as references to that Act as adapted to the Pre-reorganisation State of Rajasthan.'

(11) The Rajasthan Rehabilitation Loans Act, 1951 (Rajasthan Act 5 or 1951)

Section 1. - For Sub-section (2), substitute the following:--

'(2) It extends the whole of the State of Rajasthan.'

Losing your boyfriend (and other friends)will definitely drive you back to the casino to fill the void. Lonliness and loss are common factors in gambling, I think. Having no available venue is a bonus! In Ireland the self-exclusion is only a verbal arrangement. Unless the staff know you. you can easily go in and play (THROW MONEY AWAY). I'm banned from lots of places but every town in Ireland has at least one den of eniquity and of course as soon as a CG enters that town, a casino draws us like a magnet, like a spider attracts a fly to a web. Try to find a few new friends Libbie. Having company when you out is a deterrent. Still no sign of Mythea!

Thanks for the post Sherry :)..Usually if I stay away, it means I am gambling but thankfully this time it's not the case! It's a great thing that I excluded from nearby casinos, because there were a few ***** I would have swung my car around for a quick stop in. I know what you mean about the weekends...or for me, any days off from work with time on my hands ( I have some days off during the week). I am working this weekend so I am safe...and I am going to Chautauqua next Wednesday with my aunt and cousin on a short vacation...I know if I gamble it will ruin my time with them so I am going to really try to stay away the days before .Unfortunately, hanging with my out of town family has always been a big trigger for me...Don't know why.. Try to be strong this weekend..Do just one thing new and different (and constructive) to not think about gambling..We have to train our addicted brains to go in another direction! The Rajasthan Statutory Rules and Orders (Extension) Act, 1957

[Received the assent of the Governor on the 3rd day of December, 1957.]

An Act to provide for the extension to the Abu, Ajmer and Sunel areas of the new State of Rajasthan the rules, regulations, notifications, bye - laws and orders made by a competent authority of the pre-organisation State of Rajasthan Laws so far extended to the whole of the new State.

Be it enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature in the Eighth Year of Republic of India as follows:-

  1. Short title.- This Act may be called the Rajasthan Statutory Rules and Orders (Extension) Act, 1957.
  2. Definitions.- In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,

(i) 'State' means the State of Rajasthan as formed by section 10 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956 (Central Act 37 of 1956); and

(ii) 'statutory' used with reference to a rule, regulation, notification, bye - law or order, means such rule, regulation, notification, bye - law or order made by a competent authority of the pre-organisation State of Rajasthan under any of the laws of the pre-reorganisation State of Rajasthan specified in the Schedule.

  1. General Clauses Act to apply.- The provisions of the Rajasthan General Clauses Act, 1955 {Rajasthan Act 8 of 1955) shall, as far as may be, apply mutatis mutandis to this Act.
  2. Extension of statutory rules, etc.- All statutory rules, regulations, notifications, bye-laws and orders made by a competent authority under any of the laws of the pre-reorganisation State of Rajasthan specified in the Schedule shall extend and apply to the whole of the new State unless they shall have been previously so extended or applied and until they are duly modified or superseded.
  3. Construction of references.- In the rules, regulations, notifications, bye - laws and orders referred to in section 4, any references to a law which is not in force in any part of the State, shall, in relation to such part, be costrued as a reference to the corresponding law, if any, in force in such part and, in the absence of any corresponding law, be deemed to be omitted.
  4. Rule of construction.- For the purpose of facilitating the application of any rule, regulation, notification, bye law or order referred to in section 4, any court or other authority may construe the same with such alterations, not affecting the Substance, as may be necessary or proper to adapt it to the matter before the court or other authority.
  5. Power to make rules, etc. not to be affected.- Nothing contained in this Act shall affect the power of the State Government or of any officer or authority, exercisable under the enactments specified in the Schedule, to add to, omit, vary or rescind the rules, regulations, notifications, bye-laws and orders extended by section 4 to the whole of the new State.
  6. Power to remove difficulty.- If any difficulty arises in giving effect, in any part of the new State, to the provisions of the rules, regulations, notifications, bye - laws and orders extended to the whole of the new State by section 4, the State Government may, by order notified in the official Gazette, make such provisions or give such directions as appear to it to be necessary or expedient for the removal of the difficulty.
  7. Supersession of previous rules, etc.- Any rules, regulations, notifications, bye-laws and orders corresponding to those extended and applied by section 4, if in force in the Abu, Ajmer or Sunel areas, are hereby superseded and repealed;

Provided that anything done or any action taken under any such rule, regulation, notification, bye - law or order shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provision of the rules, regulations, notifications, bye - laws and orders extended and applied to the whole of the new State by section 4 and shall continue to be in force accordingly unless and until superseded.

  1. Repeal.- The Rajasthan Statutory Rules and Orders (Extension) Ordinance, 1957 (Rajasthan Ordinance 8 of 1957) is hereby repealed.
